Help us test our new forums/message boards!
All the communities in the pethobbyist family are beta-testing our new forum/message board system. We are about to expand into the final phase of beta testing.
Up until now we have been focusing on function and features. Right now we are primarily looking to get as much use as possible on the system, to put it through a "stress test" and see how it holds up, and to identify actual bugs, rather than make further refinements to the features.
You will notice this system has a lot of new features, and we hope you enjoy them. One of the best features is something you won't be able to see: We can change, update, refine, and upgrade this system as we go. That means that even though the feature testing phase of our beta test is over, we will be making note of all feature-related suggestions and comments for future revisions. However, at this point we primarily want as many of you as possible to log in and post.
How it works:
Your current username and password will get you into the beta forums.
You will notice some new features in the group of links above the boards/forums that are listed. Included are "Today's Posts" and "Find New."
Right now "Find New" won't work for you, as you will not have logged in for your first visit yet. You might want to use "Today's Posts" so you can see how that will work. It's very different and has many new features! Once you have logged in, the next time you can come back you can try "find new."
You can also click on the individual forums/topics, which works very much like the current system, but also with new features.
Among the new features are a preferences section that will allow you to set a signature, choose how you want to see results displayed including "new to old," "old to new," "expanded" or "non-expanded," "sub-threads" or "no sub-threads," and much more; a "Using HTML" tool, improved search capability, different ways to display the individual messages (check out "Header one" and "header two" in the preferences section!), a user profile section, and the ability to be notified by email when someone responds to a post you made. You can email a post, or a whole discussion, to yourself or anyone else. You can report abuse directly from a post.
Thank you so much for being part of our beta test, and don't hesitate to ask if you have any questions or ideas!
Please post your feedback on the beta forums in the appropriate forum in the beta area, so the developers will see it. Posting it here will not be effective. Thanks!
