When the New Forums come to CatHobbyist, one of the first things you will notice is that there will now be a user preference area. In the user preference area you will be able to choose how the forum will look and act as well as create a signature to be used on every post. The options available are whether or not you want messages you reply to quoted, if you want expanded view or not, the order in which you want threads displayed (either from oldest to newest or newest to oldest), the order in which you want replies displayed, whether or not you want those replies sub-threaded, and what header style you want to use (there are two to choose from, Classic and Gray Tone).

When creating your signature you can click on the 'Tools and Toys' link to see a list of codes that can be utilized within your signature and when creating a post. These include: text color, bold, italics, underline, URL's, email, images, marquee, and SMILIES!! Yes, now you can cry, be embarrassed, be sad, smile, show your teeth, give a raspberry, and wink!

You will also notice that the search engine has a few more options to it as well and will now search not only messages in the archives, but will also search those on the forums. You will now be able to search by message, author, topic, keyword or Date/Time! You can also find new messages that were created since your last visit or view a list of those days messages by clicking on 'Today's Posts'.

A few other options that will come in handy are the ability to choose if you want your signature added to a particular post or not. You can disable your signature by un-checking the box in front of 'Automatically attach your signature to the bottom', and you can opt to have and email sent when there are replies to your post and can even email a post to someone else.

Since these are brand new forums we will not be able to transfer messages from the current forums so they will revert to the archives. They will still be obtainable in a searchable format, but this transition may take some time and may not be available right away. Let us know if after the first day you still are not able to get information from the archives.

We ask that you please be patient while we undergo this transition, and let us know if there are any technical difficulties with the New Forums by posting in the Feedback and Suggestions forum. If you would like a preview of the new forums please check out the Beta Forums.

Thank you,
