I got Boris last October from the animal shelter. Both the vet at the animal shelter and my vet thinks he is a true Russian Blue. The animal shelter vet thinks that he was tossed out by an unscrouplous dealer. I am not so sure that he is a purebred because of his facial features. He has the typical Russian Blue double coat and mauve-colored footpads. His eyes are not the dark green that I have seen but they are still changing colors. When the sunlight hits his eyes, they still look somewhat golden. I think that he may be a mix but the vets think that he was dumped by a dealer whose concerns were about show quality and money.
Not many RB breeders would dump a kitten. Most have waiting lists for people wanting to adopt/purchase pet quality kittens, not just show quality ones. What may have happened was an unplanned breeding with another breed of cat, or someone purchased the cat then found it was much too active for them to deal with. What ever the reason, you are very lucky to have such a handsome cat!
