Hi Callista,
First of all, you will never find one show with all of the breeds represented. Some breeds are only shown in CFA, some only in TICA, some only in GCCF, etc. I guess you will have to visit all :-)
Also be careful when looking for a breed that it isn't called something else in another association. Let's take a red-point Siamese, also called flame point. In ACFA, you may find one shown as a pointed Oriental. In CFA, you may find one shown as a AOV Oriental.
Havana Browns in the USA were known as Havanas in England, where they were created many years ago. Most of the Havanas that came to the US were re-registered as Orientals in 1974. Some kept the look and created the breed of Havana Browns.
There are several good all breed books out there. Go to a bookstore, or even used bookstore, to browse through some. Visit fanciers.com for information about just about every breed of cat.
When you know what you're looking for, try to get books or articles about that breed. Beware. Not all of them are truly representative of the breed. Some articles were written by writers assigned to stories who did a little research and really know nothing about the breed.
When you are ready to buy a kitten or cat, try to visit a few breeders at their homes. Try not to impulse buy. If you are looking for a kitten, find a breeder you like and stay with them. When a litter is born, you can follow the growth process of the baby through photos, visitation, etc. Fun to do.
Good luck and have fun going to shows, reading, and shopping :-)
