:HELP! We have a bengal kitten, 4 months, that we have had about
:6 weeks. She gets very lonely when we are not available at all
:hours to play with her, so we have been looking for a playmate.
:We found a WONDERFUL, loving DSH cat the same age as our Bengal,(the bengal is female, DSH a male) and she HATES him. It has been two days and she wants to KILL him. He is laid back and easy going, and we fell in love with him, but the she devil is driving us bonkers. We have been understanding and loving to her
:showing her extra attention and keeping them separated, but just
:smelling him on our clothes makes her possessed!! We are afraid
:she will even bite us!

This can be a really difficult problem! I don't have any magic answer for you, however I do have a couple of ideas for you. One would be to wipe the new kitty down with a towel and then rub the towel all over your bengal and then put this towel in your bengals bed. In other words, you really try to desensitize your Bengal to the other kitties smell. Are both of the cats neutered/spade? If not, you might want to get that done as soon as possible.

Does you bengal respond to treats? Can you "bribe" her by giving her a favorite treat when she is good with the new kitty -- even for a little bit?

I have heard of a rather extreme remedy --- I am not recommending it especially, but I have heard that it works. You get a can of the smelliest tuna you can find, and you douse both cats with the this nasty smelly tuna juice and then lock them in a bathroom together. They are so absorbed in cleaning up the mess, including cleaning up each other, that by the time they are through their smells are intermingled, and the problem is solved. Now mind you, I have never tried this myself!

Hopefully someone else will have some suggestions. PHCurious --- what do you think???
