I have to watch my dogs about this too. I wouldn't put the box up on a table though, we want to make going to the bathroom as wasy as possible on cat people -- no sense in making it harder.

Here's what I do: I have hooded boxes and turn them to the wall. Facing them into a corner would be even better if one is available. That way the cat can slink in and the dogs have a hard time getting their head around that corner that's been created. If the dog is really stubborn you will at least hear it when they accidentally knock the hood off while forcing their head in.

If you're not home and your dog isn't crated, perhaps you could close the cat in one room with all his need things - box, water, toys, etc, when you're not able to keep an eye on things.

Also, scoop quite often. Less temtation for your dog!

:Hello. I am considering buying a four and a half month old ragdoll male, neutered. I have a two and a half year old English Cocker Spaniel, very gentle, very playful and gets along great with cats. My concern is that he will get into the litter box for a disgusting snack, since he did this at a friend's house and got very sick. $1000 later, all is well, but it has made me nervous about my purchase. Any thoughts? All I have come up with is raising it on a table, but would a 4.5 month kitten be able to figure everything out?
