:Here's what I do: I have hooded boxes and turn them to the wall. Facing them into a corner would be even better if one is available. That way the cat can slink in and the dogs have a hard time getting their head around that corner that's been created. If the dog is really stubborn you will at least hear it when they accidentally knock the hood off while forcing their head in.

:If you're not home and your dog isn't crated, perhaps you could close the cat in one room with all his need things - box, water, toys, etc, when you're not able to keep an eye on things.

:Also, scoop quite often. Less temtation for your dog!



Martisimo has given great advice here. I think most cat people do turn the box to the wall. Another option would be to install a small kitty door in a door to another room and keep the door shut. Then only kitty could have access to the room. Of course this has drawbacks - you may not be able to or want to cut into a door this way.
