Tearing up my carpet!

Hi, I need help! My siamese was always a scratcher/chewer but lately she is ripping up my wall to wall carpet. She does this in the corners of every room. I've tried baking soda, perfume, cat deterrents such as No Scratch and Bitter Apple but to no avail. She does this when I am at work or when I am sleeping. She knows she is doing something wrong because she hides when I come home. She is an indoor kitty. I've trimmed her claws but that doesn't help. I really can't afford declawing and think it isn't a nice thing to do to her. Any suggestions? I was thinking about a scratching post but I've had those before and she gets tired of them.
Thanks for any help I can get!
