This is a new one, although there are people who say that their cats don't MIND getting sprayed. I've never heard of one that actually liked it.

I do have a "noisy" solution. Cats don't like some sounds. Try getting a bell and ringing it. Or a whistle. I know of someone who trained her cats using a boat horn! They have them in marine shops - they are like airhorns attached to an aerosol can.
