Both of my cats LOVE being squirted by the spray bottle. In fact, they used to start knocking things off the shelves then running over to the spray bottle and begging me to squirt them.
For some cats, getting squirted is a reward, not a punishment. I had to get rid of my spray bottle! Hahaha, it was encouraging them to misbehave just so they could get the "punishment," that wasn't a punishment in their case.
As a noisemaker, I use me. :-) I give my cats a firm "No," (not a yell, just loud and in a firm tone of voice). And if they're into something really dangerous, I clap my hands loudly to startle them. It works.
Welcome to the club of felines with unusual likes. It's strange but fun.
