If you give treats daily or several times a week then it's a good idea to subtract a tiny bit from his food. It's just like when a person is trying to maintain their weight. If I go out a lot over a weekend I am careful to eat less/better throughout the following week to maintain...same for kitties.

The six cats in my household get treats VERY, VERY rarely, so I don't change their twice-daily amounts of food. I'm talking like maybe ten times a year for treats.

:I read this article in Cat Fancy and it talks about treating your cats and what's kosher and what isn't. It was helpful for me -- I give Buford his pounce treats and then subtract a little from his normal food. Turns out thats what I ought to do (I wasn't positive). It also gives more rules of thumb. What do you guys think of it?
