You may want to talk to your vet. I know you don't want to make as sudden change with any food. You want to gradually mix old with new for several days. I also have heard you don't want to suddenly feed less or limit the calorie intake. Again, gradual. I have also heard that if your cat is quite a bit overweight, foods you get from the vet work much, much better at weight reduction. I have seen this with my friend. He's tried unsuccessfully for a couple years to get his overweight dog to lose weight with grocery store diet dog food and it wasn't until he worked with his vet and got a formula thru his vet that his dog started losing weight. She's lost about 20 lbs now.
