Canned vs Dry

Hi - My two cats are 7 and 5. All their lives they have been free feeding on Dry food. Recently the vet told me that the "new" thinking in cat nutrition is that dry food is bad and I should switch to canned. Her explanation was that since wild cats don't get carbs and dry food is high in carbs, a canned diet is better. She also went on to say that a canned diet might help my chronic puker.

Any thoughts on the subject?

Thanks,
Martha
