:Hey - Thanks for the input ... I wasn't real confident in this vet (I recently moved so it's a new Dr.). Her thinking is that all cats should switch because dry is high in carbs and in nature they don't get carbs. She did also think switching would help with some particular problems (eg: the chronic puking) I think I will keep them on dry for now (after 5 and 7 years it doesn't seem to be a problem) but next time I'll take them to the "Cat Clinic" where the doctors only specialize in cats.
Thanks again -
Martha
:I missed your "chronic puker" comment the first time. I mix in a hairball dry formula (Science Diet) about 1/3 to 2/3 other dry and my cats have had a dramatic reduction in hairballs. Dramatic. Pookey hasn't had one in weeks. Stanley went from often to maybe once every two weeks. I started mixing in 3 years ago and it REALLY help my cats...
:But, if your vet wants you to switch to wet, you should listen to your vet over anyone elses advise, because your vet knows your cat thru exams. Unless you really question the vet's advice. Then get a second vet opinion. Your vet may have a reason we are not aware of... However, in this case, it doesn't sound specific to your cat, but your vet's thinking regarding ALL cats... Your best bet is to question your vet more or ask another vet (if one doesn't answer on this board).
