Since Voodoo is on a special diet, we can't let her have the kitten food that Gracie eats. So my husband cut a small hole in a large plastic box (the kind you buy at Walmart for storing clothes and stuff). The hole is large enough for Gracie to get in, but too small for Voodoo, so we placed Gracie's food inside the box. Perhaps that would also work for you. That way, the only opportunity your fat cat would have to eat kitten food would be to lose weight first. :-) It also meant we didn't have to keep the door closed while we were feeding Gracie. Actually, Voodoo did get in once and got stuck part way. It was pretty funny! She doesn't do that anymore!
