:Merry Christmas everybody! I have a question: I just adopted a cat three days ago (pics coming soon). She is a 1 year old (according to the shelter I got her from) calico lady with the sweetest baby voice, but she is on the bones (only seven pounds in a very large frame, very skinny).
::The problem is: Bob, my resident 8 month old kitten, wants to eat her adult food, and viceversa. I was wondering since she needs to put on some weight and the other guy is (STILL, now 11 pounds!) growing, if I could just hold the cat food for a while and give them kitten food. I am mostly concerned about the kitten, who is still very active and growing. Thanks a lot in advance for the response.

:Kitten food is usually higher in protein and calcium than the adult foods. I wouldn't think it would hurt her if she's seriously underweight. What does your vet say about her weight? Some Science Diet a/d or a similar product might be of help in putting a bit of weight on her. It is always a good idea to have a new cat checked out by your vet, even if adopted from a shelter or purchased from a breeder. Good luck and keep us posted. Can't wait for the pictures. Stop by CalicoTude chat on Monday evenings at 8 pm ET in CatCareCentral.
Thanks for the response, Abymom! The first thing I did with Daisy Marilyn was taking her to my vet (I needed to do it anyway, policies of the adoption organization and the sake of my resident kitten). That's how I know he could use a couple of pounds on her(and the vet agreed, though he didn't say anything special about feeding her). She got her last series of shots and checked out healthy enough to be allowed to interact with the kitten. What I've noticed is that she is a little bit of a finicky kitty. Eats very little, but her appetite is improving (especially after I sprinkle some tuna juice or give her canned food). I decided to put kitten food mixed with a little bit of Max cat adult in both bowls, and they seem happy with it. She looks really teenie when compared to big, fluffy Bob!
