I adopted a 10-week-old kitten, Zoe, from a shelter almost a week ago. She will only take a few nibbles of her food, especially if I open a new bag or can. Once she's eaten it once, she ignores it. I thought she was just finicky until she started throwing up several times each day.
:She's been to the vet a few times and in fact stayed there overnight last night. She's eating some there and not throwing up. She seems healthy and happy other than her eating problems and the vet is stumped. Her stool sample didn't reveal anything and she has no temperature. She was just spayed 10 days ago and still has stitches. Even so, the vet said she could not feel anything that might cause an obstruction and didn't think that was the problem since she was pooping, although she did have diarrhea yesterday.
:I'm just not sure what to do at this point. Should I ask for other tests? Could there be something in my home Zoe's upset about? I keep her in my bedroom at night and while I'm at work. She doesn't seem to mind, and is very affectionate, sitting on my lap and purring away. She's very playful, but she doesn't seem to get into things, and I've tried to make sure there are no strings, plants, etc. she can get. I do have a 5-year-old who loves her, but Zoe seems to tolerate being petted and minimally carried around by her.
:It is especially hard because I had to have my 18-year-old cat Zane put to sleep two weeks ago today. He did not appear to have a contagious disease, just long-term kidney and heart problems.
:Any ideas or suggestions to get this little kitten to chow down? I have a whole smorgasboard of food at this point.

Well, it certainly doesn't sound normal for a kitten to eat only small amounts then vomit it up. Did your vet do a blood test in addition to the stool tests? Even though she may not be running a temperature, she could have a low grade infection from the spay which is upsetting her tummy.
You are doing the right thing in keeping her confined until you are confident that she won't get into trouble when you're not home.
Good luck and keep us posted on Zoe!
