Since you are in another country, it is hard to judge whether or not the kitten could have typhus. However, a vet will know if this is a risk in your area or not. Little kittens often have digestive problems, however, but diarrhea is serious because a kitten runs the risk of dehydration.
Tina, is there another vet you can take your kitten to? If there is I urge you to get her checked. If not, keep an eye on her and if she has diarrhea again, go back.
:We adopted our 8 week old kitten off the Shelter 6 days ago.
:We were told that she had gotten her pills and everything.
:Well, we got her home, she had a teary eye which I treated with eye drops and also gave her some worm syrup (Vermox).
:I feed her with either Friskies Kitten Food (can) or Whiskas 1-12 months kitten munchies (the dried up thing).
:A few hours ago, I noticed she started having severe diarrhoia (sp?) and vomiting. A yellowish hue and it smelled bad.
:I immediately took her to the vet withing 2 hours of the symptoms and he gave me a syrup telling me she has enteritis (the night before she had eatten a lot).
:I gave her the medication but she vomitted it all out after 10 minutes.
:I called the vet and he said try again until it stays in. So I gave her more and 1 hour later she had diarrhoia agai with the same color as the medication but not much in quantity.
:She is playful and except that her behavior is normal and for 3 hours now she has not vomitted or anything.
:I am worried.
:Can it be Tyfus?? If it is, is it contagious to humans? She is sleeping with us in the bed and I am worried.
:Please let me know on what else it might be...
:Thank you,
:Tina
