Having a cat that has problems using the litterbox is really rough, but when it threatens the health of your child then I can understand your anger. However, before you give up totally on the cat try these things:

First, all bedding, etc must be throughly cleaned with an enzyme cleaner like Nature's Miracle. Second, check out Feliway, a product designed to mimic the happy scent cats use when they mark with their cheeks. If you spritz a bit according to label directions where the cat has been peeing, and if you have properly deodorized this could stop the behavior all together.

Third, check out where you have the litterbox. If it is hard to get to, then try putting another one close to the room where she is marking. In fact, if you have a small room where you can close her in with the litterbox, food and some bedding, she may re-learn to use the litterbox consistantly on her own.

Finally, if all else fails, ask your vet about using some sort of antianxiety medication like Buspar. This drug has been sucessfully used in a lot of cases. The decision to prescribe this will rest solely with your veterninarian who will need to monitor dosage and side effects.
