I have two 11 year old boys I adopted from the SPCA when they were 1. They are 12 lbs each now. Hopefully I can answer some of your questions:
You may want to start closing your bathroom door -- or even try putting the TP roll on backwards to stop the unrolling and eating of TP.
Plastic bags contain fish oils that attract some cats wildly. Pookey LOVES dry cleaning bags and will chew on them until he gags. I am very careful to keep plastic bags out of his reach (plastic grocery bags, bread bags, trash bags, etc., are temptations). I keep the closet closed so he stays away from dry cleaning bags. It could be very dangerous if they swollow a large piece. I would keep plastic bags behind closed doors and out of reach.
I really like scoopable litter. I recommend trying it. It is so much easier. You scoop every day. I change out fully about once a month. You have to top it off from time to time. I use an enclosed box and litter only escapes out of one side/opening that way. I put an astroturf welcome mat in front of the opening and that catches most of what escapes...
Congratulations!
