He may indeed miss the old food and he might be looking for it. Hopefully this behavior will die down. He may be frustrated about something totally different. Perhaps now that he's used to the house he wants to explore more "territory". Even though he's an older cat, he may need some stimulation like a new toy or some interactive playtime. Cat wands are very good.

I'm not sure why he would be less affectionate. It could be the distraction of seeking something else...whatever that is.

Maybe someone else will have more of an idea.
