Yes. We saw the vet on Saturday and he told me the same thing. That a cup (the amount recommended on Delicats package) is way too much. I cut him off the canned food immedatiately because he was vomitting--and this did inspire some strenuous begging. I am also in the process of working him down to 1/2 cup of dry food daily. We survived on only 3/4 of a cup yesterday, though he came to talk to my quite often.

I quizzed my vet on different types of cat foods and he said that the best are certainly the brands like Iams, Eukanuba and Science Diet, he also said that he likes Purina and as long as Smokey likes it, that should be fine. So that's what we're sticking with for now.
