Norma, you are doing a wonderful thing by fostering. I started off by volunteering to foster a cat or two at our local rescue organization. My first 2 fosters were feral kittens about 4 months old, taken from the feral colony that we manage. They needed alot of socialization. My husband joked that they were a new breed of cat called Scaredy Cats. I guess my heart isn't that of a true fosterer because I just could not give them back. So they remain part of our family to this day. Next came a pretty muted calico mom and her kittens. One kitten died, but the other two got good homes. We discovered that Momcat had asthma and after bringing her through a crisis situation, I once again could not give her up to anyone.
I guess my heart is just not cut out to nurture cats and then give them up even if they do go to good homes. But I never would have known that if I hadn't tried and I do have 3 wonderful felines added to our family. :)
Now I only do very short-term fostering and concentrate my rescue efforts on finding good homes for the cats in our care and raising funds to care for them.
Purrs,
Dottie
