This may indeed be a sexual thing that could diminish as the neutering takes effect - it takes a while for the male hormones to totally leave the system.

In the meantime, you'll have to try to read what might be triggering the "attacks" and avoid that stimulous, even if it means not petting the cat.

If the behavior continues, a vet check is in order to see if there is another factor at work here. Also the vet might see fit to prescribe some sort of anti-anxiety medication or perhaps refer you to an animal behavorist.
