I would SO be feeding him something else.

And I would take him to the vet and have a complete workup done, blood profiles, feline virus testing, thyroid check, complete physical (which should include visual exam of mouth, eyes and ears). Make sure you take him while he is displaying symptoms, leave him all day if you have to. And if you don't think this vet has anything to offer you take him to another, cat-oriented vet.

If this were my cat I would be very concerned. White gums means anemia. Anemia, drooling, glazed eyes, losing weight and slow reaction times don't happen for no reason, it's not normal. Since he's going outside that further widens the realm of possibility for what could be happening with him.

:
:Stop feeding your cat the Meow Mix immediately! Not because there is something generally toxic in it, since your other cats are OK this is probably not an issue. However there seems to be something in there that is disagreeing with your cat. He may have developed a food allergy or an allergy to some chemical or preservative that is in the food.

:Ask your vet to recommend or prescribe a hypo allergenic food and see if the problem continues. You may need to insist on a more thorough exam with a blood work-up and fecal inspection for blood in the stool.

:If your cat goes outside, try keeping him in for a while. He may be getting into something toxic out there. Look all around your house - get on your hands and knees and look from a cat's prospective and see if there is something that he might be chewing on! I read of one cat who chewed on the plastic coating on an artificial Christmas tree and who became very ill.

:If the problem is not solved, you will need to find another vet, preferably one who specializes in felines.

:Good luck to you.
