:I recently adopted a 4mo male neutered red tabby. I brought him home and that very same day after his bath (he smelled like kitty poo)He developed the sniffles, drippy eyes, sneezing, and a fever. He began to breath heavy indicating to me that he was hot, so I took a wet rag and moistened his feet and ears to cool him off, after that the fever went away but he still has the cold. When giving him his bath my husband and I were careful to keep him warm, wrapped him up in a towel, blow dried him out, then I sat on the couch holding him with a blanket wrapped around us both. Is there an at home remedy for this cold, I wont be able to take him to the vet for a while due to a busy schedule. Also, He was givin strongid on Jan. 8 and its now Jan 12, i noticed through a swollen belly, and stool that he has tapeworms, I was wondering how long till the strongid rids him of this or should I make a point to notify the vet?
:Thanks for your help!
Strongid works on roundworms, but has no effect on tapeworms. It is likely that the symptoms your kitten is showing are due to a feline upper respiratory virus. You might try some immune stimulants, or a homeopathic nosode against FURTI.
