:I NEED SOMEONE OUT THERE TO PLEASE HELP ME! My cat still has struvite crystals even though he has been fed Hills S/O canned food for the past 30 days and his Ph level is still 6.5. He is given extra water twice a day by syringe. HOW CAN i LOWER HIS ph LEVEL? My vet has told me to continue with the canned food for a further 30 days but I am not happy with this. How much of the caned food do i feed him? Are there any alternative treatments/ supplements/ vitamins whatever which will help him to get rid of these crystals. PLEASE ADVISE ME. THANK YOU
You could continue the canned food, or put the cat on fresh raw meat and bones. This shoulb lower his urinary pH to around 6.2-6.3. If it is still too high, give the cat 500mg ascorbic acid twice a day in his food. Also, add water to the food to make it like a slurry, then add salt to make him drink even more. It is going to take some time to dissolve the crystals, but this will work.
