This exact scenario happened to me with my 14 year old cat, at which time it was too late to reverse, she suffered chronic renal failure; however, I have kept her in good health with daily fluid injections. The "face in the water bowl" is a classic sign of renal (kidney) failure, if caught in time it can be reversed, if not, it can often be managed for a long time. TAKE YOUR CAT TO THE VET, ASAP!
good luck, "mehitabel's mom"
:Hope someone may have had this happen to there cat before and can give me good news. My cat has been very healthy usually but has now stoped eating, not very responsive, and also just lies with her head on the water dish. Two days ago she was eating and drinking a lot now nothing she has no energy to even jump. I am taking her to the vet today but hope someone has had this and can give me good news I love her to pieces. Thank You
