Keeping the cats separated is a good idea. You may have to introduce them super-slowly! Here are a few links for you to try! Introducing Cats Good Luck! Remember that slow is operative word here. Also try the towel trick - rub the kitten with a towel and then rub your cat. She may object at first, but be persistant.
The adult cat obviously doesn't want the kitten around! It could be that she is not feeling well because of the vomiting and that is why she is hiding. Or she may be vomiting from stress. There is no way to really know. A vet check is indicated here if the vomiting continues.
