Hi,
We have just adopted a wonderful kitten for our son. We, however, already have two Jack Russell Terriers (one 9 years old, the other 4 years old). Both dogs were raised with cats and kittens when they were younger...but that was over three years ago.
We are not quite sure how to introduce them. The dogs are going nuts. On the couple of times we have tried to introduce them we were at least pleased to find the kitten will stand up for himself quite well...didn't run from the dog, just bowed, hissed and slapped the dog's face. But the dogs were surprisingly aggressive towards the kitten. I was so alarmed that I muzzled them in order to allow them to get a little closer...one at a time.
But somehow we have to all live together here. We just got the kitten yesterday so I know it will take time. But can someone please give me some clues to make is easier and less traumatic on everyone?
Thanks. Email patholsten@aol.com
