:In June of this year, I adopted a 2 month old kitten from the animal shelter. Now, we might get another one.
:My current cat is now 7 months old, male, fixed (at 2 months, they required it) and he's a nice cat but he only likes certain people. He's very shy and timid around others. I've only had him by himself, but one time another cat (who we used to feed sometimes) came in and was in the kitchen, at at 2 months he got a bit territorial and chased her off (she never came back).

:Now, I might be adopting a 6 week old (that was found outside an animal hospital when he was a week old), and a woman took him in, bottle feed him and now she wants to give him to someone. I'm going to call on Monday about him. Anyway, if I do get this kitten, I need to know if you guys think my current kitty will accept him. I've heard of problems with two male cats? Would he ever hurt a new kitten, or will he realize it is a baby and be nice to it? I want to make sure he won't run off or anything, because I'd really like to have 2 cats that are close in age.

Hi, I MAY have the same situation (my kitty is 8 months old now) and I am kind of concerned because he is a little territorial and rough at play (like for instance scratches around his food bowl, around ME sometimes, hehe). He has been the only baby since I got him at 5 weeks old (he and his brother were feral babies and the Vet doc told me to do it so young in order to be able to socialize him). On the other hand, he is VERY sociable with people (he hasn't met any other kitty yet, if you don't count the day we had a pet blessing at church). But I think that, since he is SO active and playful (I have posted several times here about his craziness) it would be nice if he could have someone to tumble around with while I am at school. I want to get a kitten more or less his age (6 months to one year) because he is already a very big cat (muscular 10-pounder with intentions to put on at least a couple more) What is the opinion of any of the PHmommies around here? considering the size of Bob, would another boy be OK or the gender wouldn't matter? I am still thinking about it and would not like to do something that made my current kitten rejected or jealous...
