My cat had ONE kitten

Is it common for a cat to give birth to only ONE kitten? My cat gave birth to the kitten at 6:15 pm and has not had another since. It is going on 5 hrs! She does not seem to be in any pain and has been feeding her kitten and sleeping. Is this normal?
