Pregnant Cat

Hey guys,
My name is Alicea and I am 11 years old. Our cat has been pregnant since we guess around the beginning of Febuary. My sister has been doing a lot of research on pregnant cats and has found out a lot about difficult pregnancies and having to assist in the birth. I was wondering what exactly we have to do, we have learned things like giving each kitten a separate marking with a marker, weighing them and waking up about every hour during the last four days of pregnancy. Is all of this necessary? We are very worried about it as we want our kittie to have a safe birth.
