I have 2 sister cats. One is pregnant and the other is not. Lately, they have both been displaying VERY odd behavior.

The first: When they came to us, they may have been either abused or neglected by humans. They would freak out if we entered a room ten feet away from them. Upon making eye contact, they would run and hide. However, since Topaz has become pregnant, she has made herself visible to us. She also lets us pet her and pick her up. She only runs when we make big, loud noises. I figured that she wanted human allies so that when she has her babies, she has support. Anyone ever experience this drastic change of personality? Will it last?

The second: Now that Topaz is pregnant, Patches is crazy! She cleans her. She attaches herself to her right shoulder wherever she (Topaz) goes. They sleep together. Patches is cleaning her, rather extensively, and snuggling and everything. Prior to her pregnancy, or atleast prior to the point of her showing, Patches and Topaz would hiss at each other and keep a distance between them. Patches, the most resistant to human touch, has let the HUMANS touch her as well. She talks alot and has also made herself very visible to us. She is not in heat. Is this behavior typical of sybling cats? Should we be concerned at all?

I also wanted to know how big cats balloon to before they give birth.

If someone could shed some light on this odd behavior, I'd appreciate it. Thanks!
