The kitten(s) with the "gap" should be a male. The other(s) is female. How old are these kittens? I've found it very hard to be sure about gender until 6-8 weeks, so I wouldn't say anything definite before that age.
Color can also help you tell - if you have any calicos (patches/blotches of black, orange and white, or mostly white with black and orange patches) or torties (black and orange intermingled), then those are almost certainly females. Calicos and torties can also come in "dilute" colors - that is, grey, peach/tan and white/cream for calicos and grey and peach/tan for torties. Orange cats are predominantly male, but there are a fair number of orange females in the world too. I hope this helps!
