: My cat chases his tail and bites it. The tip is going bald because of it. What can I do to make him quit this nasty habit?
In most cases it is normal for cas to use their tail as a built in toy,but not to the extent that your cat is. Try getting some Bitter Apple at the pet store - the lotion would probably be better in this case. Put it on the cat's tail being VERY
careful NOT to put it on any open areas as it contains alcohol and would be extremely painful! If the cat gets a taste of this stuff it may disuade him from this behavior. But the cat's proble may go beyond this- which remains to be seen. Also try giving the cat more toys. They lve paper bags and plastic grocery bags. Fold up a piece of paper or cardboard and tie a string around it. You cat tie it to a doorknob or pull it across the floor. Fresh catnip is also a possibility. You can purchase "cat bags" that have a crinkly paper in it which they also like. Hope this helps!
