I am sorry about the death of your cat. The good news is that FIV isn't really that contagious and you have cleaned up more than enough. FIV is usually passed by biting or by nursing. However, if you mean FIP then you have something more contageous. Vets seem to disagree on when it is safe to allow other cats in a room or area where an FIP cat has been. To be extra sure, call your vet and ask about whether or not it is safe to allow your kittens in the family room where the FIV+ cat lived. I think you will get a big go-ahead! PH Madame Alto >^..^<
:Hi, I lost my dear FIV+ kitty on June 25th. He was kept in our family room and seperated from our other kitties. I would now like to allow them into the family room again, how do I go about disenfecting? We have shampooed the rug twice and used Lysol wipes on all the hard furniture surfaces. Is there anything else we need to do? They won't have access to his dishes, toys or litter pan. Please let me know, I am concerned about letting them back in the family room. Thanks so much for your help.
