Indeed, you should have her checked. If she is negative, recheck her in six months just in case things are incubating. Then perhaps you can breathe a sigh of relief as long as she is indoor only. If she is positive then keep her as stress free as possible and on a high-quality diet. As long as she is happy and has a good quality of life there is no need to euthanize just because the test is positive.
Strange...I was just talking to a fellow singer who is a vet and she said that Feline Leukemia is not as contagious as was originally thought! Perhaps your cat is negative after all.
