:my cat (year old. lenore. :) has begun randomly *NOT* covering her poop in her litterbox. the thing is, its not every time--she usually is wonderful about doing it, even making a big fuss as if to say "i'm tidier than YOU are, mom!" but at the same time--what can i do about the times she doesn't? it seems to me that its *really* smelly when she doesn't do it. HELP!

About the only thing you can do is to try to see that there are no stresses in your cat's life. Very often not covering feces is a sign that the cat is trying to prove its domanance. There is no sure guarentee that this will change the situation since it seems to be random. You'll more than likely have to chalk it up as one of the downsides of having a cat living with you and try to remove the poo as soon as you notice it!
