Our Simba (6 1/2-year-old long-haired white guykit), is very ill and in the vet hospital tonight. Simba really stressed out when Mommy and Daddy were gone, and would only eat when human broffer Mark would stay by him. By the time Mommy and Daddy returned, Simba had lost weight and hair length, and was not at all the energetic cat they'd hugged good-bye when they left for vacation. But he seemed to pick up quite a bit, and Mommy thought he was improving. He really enjoyed drinking water from the water faucet, and Mommy and Daddy were glad to provide that several times a day. But this morning, Mommy didn't like the looks of him at all, and it appeared that he was weak and somewhat uncoordinated. So Daddy took him to the vet, who found him to be suffering from kidney failure, dehydration, and anemia. They're going to do more tests. Mommy will be talking to the vet herownself tomorrow, but Daddy says they're going to test his urine again, to see if some bacterial infection is causing at least some of the problems. The vet says it's very rare for a cat as young as his records indicate to have problems like this. But, as far as we know, the records give his correct age. Simba could use a lot of GLOW right now. It took him so long to overcome some problems he had in his first home and had become quite affectionate (even with Tornado). Mommy's really beating herself up bout this, realizing she should have taken him to the vet as soon as she got home. BearBear
