Simba is doing better. Earlier in the day, Mommy still had to partially force-feed him, until he started eating a little bit, then she'd push more food into his mouth, and then he'd eat a bit more, etc. He could obviously handle only a small amount of food at a time. And Mommy wasn't having much success getting him to drink, but she had more success with the eating if she mashed the food up and added water to it. (She fed him every few hours.)
Then later in the day, Daddy had success getting Simba to drink from the running faucet. He also got Simba to eat by putting some of the mushy food on a fork and raising the fork to his mouth. (Go figger!) And twice today, Simba went looking for food - either he'd follow Mommy into the kitchen or Mommy would find him waiting by our food bowl (though not eating from it). But Mommy and Daddy still had to work to get him to really eat until the last time tonight ... I guess he was purrty hungry, because he went over and started eating from the dish before Mommy mashed it or added water, and he ate almost 1/4 can of food this time!
Mommy's furry encouraged by this, even though he's still pretty weak and isn't drinking as he should. (Mommy would give him some water in the mouth via a syringe, and he'd swallow, though he'd struggle against having his mouth opened, like any self-respecting kit would.)
Mommy has to go to work tomorrow, and she's worried about having no one at home to feed him every few hours. She plans on feeding him as much as she can before she leaves for work and hopes that maybe Daddy can run home for a feeding during the day. Simba has an appointment with the vet tomorrow afternoon; the vet will check him over to see how he's doing and may hydrate him again.
