My Midnight went to the Bridge on Friday, September 6, 2002. As a tribute to her, I wrote this poem. I know some of the parts do not rhyme but I feel a poem should express how you feel and the love you have inside.
My Sweet Midnight
I want to say a few words to you that comes from my heart.
You have always been special to me even though we are apart.
You are my shadow in the dark.
You are my campanion in my heart.
I remember the first day I saw you,
Behind those cage bars,
You looked oh so blue and sad,
Thinking you had been bad.
You had been tossed aside and left behind.
No one who could understand your sadness
That I saw was behind,
Those beautiful green eyes.
You grabbed on to my shirt and
You grabbed on to my heart.
I took you away to live with me
And my other counterparts.
You didn't seem to mind that there were others.
Instead you took your turn and waited patiently.
Then you showered me with your love of
Endless purrs and headbonks.
They said you were cranky and I guess that's so.
But they didn't know you had a heart of gold.
I called you a pest sometimes and turned you away.
But you waited patiently throughout the day.
Then just at the right time you'd come to me as if to say,
You okay now, You okay?
I love you with all my heart and soul.
For this I want you to know:
It broke My heart to lose you but you didn't go alone.
Part of me went with you the day God took you home.
No more days of suffering, no more days of pain.
Only sunny days with no more rain.
I give you a lock of my hair,
A can of tuna that you loved so dear.
A catnip mouse and bag for you to play in the sun,
And a tee shirt of mine for you to sleep on.
But most of all, I give you my Love!!
