I'm surprised there aren't alot more stories in this forum. I know there are lots of you out there who have rescued cats and would love to hear them!

Anyway, this is my story......the one that started everything :)
One day back in '94, my sister called me. She works at a verterinary hospital in another state. Someone had brought in a stray cat that was being abused by a group of teenagers and was badly injured. He was about 6 months old and his injuries caused him to be paralyzed in the hind legs. The vet saved his life, but no one wanted to adopt a physically handicapped cat, so I knew that I had to take him into my home. DH was not thrilled with the idea as we already had two cats and he wasn't really a true animal lover. But, after watching Chancey over come his handicap, things changed..for all of us. That little guy showed us what courage and determination and true love was all about. After everything he had been through, his trust in us was unbelieveable.
Although he was only with us a very few short months,(he died from FIP several months after coming into our lives) he left behind quite a legacy. He turned DH into a true animal lover and he gave my heart the nudge it needed to start rescuing other cats (our household is now up to 8 rescued cats) and to volunteer for a rescue organization. Chancey left a mark on our lives and will always have a special place in our hearts. He also showed us how rewarding rescuing can be and how much love you can find in a tiny little life that needs you.
