I wish I could help you more, but cat nutrition is really something I know so little about. I am surprised your vet didn't give you more guidance.

Have you looked at the websites for the more high-quality cat foods? I have heard great things about Innova, California Natural, Solid Gold, Wysong, Eagle pack, Pinnacle. If you go to google.com and run a search for each separate food you might find more about each one.

In the meanwhile, I'll scout around and see if I can find an answer for you. You might also consider calling another vet and getting a second opinion!
