You might ask your vet about a vitamin supplement that has extra iron and nutrients. Speak with him/her about what can be done to make Henry comfortable while he is with you. Perhaps something can get him to feeling more lively. Also ask them to discuss with you honestly what to look for when Henry is no longer comfortably enjoying life. Animals with conditions such as his often slowly get to feeling very bad and it can be hard for owners to recognize it since it's gradual.
:The vet says that my cat is severely anemic, his blood count is 17 and it is supposed to be 43. The vet says if Henry's blood count goes below 12 he will die. Henry also has some sort of mass on his side, it isn't attatched to any of the easily fixed things, an exploratory surgery would be needed to find out if it is operable and the vet says there is only a 50% chance that it would be operable, so we are opting not to do the exploratory surgery. He is 12. I'm wondering if there is anything we can do to raise his iron levels or help with the anemic business.
:He vomits occasionally, but not more than once a week, and has runny stools frequently.
