This is what happened to my Lady Jane last year. She also went blind overnite. I noticed her eyes tearing 3 days before it happened and "of course" it happened on a Sunday morning! She jumped up on the kitchen table like she usually does and I glance at her and, OH MY GOD, her eyes are completely red, red as blood and there's what appears to be white, opaque cateracts in the middle of each eye. She must have some vision because she managed to jump up on the table that morning. I absolutely freaked! Thank goodness there's an emergency vet clinic in the next town. The vet there was baffled after examining her & recomended I go to an animal opthamologist located about 45 minutes away from my house, across the state line. She was diagnosed with Uvreitis. It can be caused by feline lukemia or.....they just don't know 'what' caused it! That little incident cost me over a thousand dollars and I'll probably have to put drops in her eyes daily for the rest of her life. Fortunately she's 'such' a good girl and lets me do it without a struggle or complaint on her part (THANK you Jeeesus!! LOL).
