:Hello!
:So I just made the appointment to get my kitty spayed. Now i know it is absolutley nessesary to do this, but i just feel so bad. I have to leave her there all day long in a strange place. Do you think its safe for them? Is there anything i can do before and after the surgery to make her feel better? Is she gonna change completely -- will she still be the cute fun kitten? I must sound so neurotic right now, but she is like my baby, you know!? :-) Thanks for any advice!
She probably won't change much and she'll still be loving and cute when she gets home. She may be a little confused at first, but this will wear off quickly. If you want to read some spay success stories, visit the General Cat Discussion message board. Lots of people drop by for special prayers and **GLOW** and receive it. Then they come back later saying the cat has done just fine. Your cat's chances of dying from a spay are slim. There is a small risk, it's true, but her chances of dying from uterine cancer or mammary gland cancer are far greater if you don't get her spayed. Best wishes and good luck to you and your kitty. You are doing the right thing.
Don't be scared! The odds are in favor of your kitty! Be sure to insist on bloodwork before the surgery, however. This will help cut down on the chance of a bad reaction to anesthesia. It will cost a little extra, but it will be worth it to you!
