Good! I was suprised that he had stitches from being neutered - but it makes more sense that he doesn't. I have never had a cat get stiches when neutered, and we have had quite a few neutered.
The swelling will go down over the next several days, and he will finally look neutered. Watch the incision for any signs of weeping or drainage.
I wouldn't bathe him for a week, but check with your vet to see how they feel. In the meantime, you might try a waterless shampoo on him, making sure to avoid "down there" :-)
