Greetings,
My female 8 yr. cat Frannie had fallen from a tree approx. 3 yrs. ago. At the time she was completely paralized from bid-back down. We took her immediately to a accupunturist and she has since recovered about 80% of her movement. She is so loved, but I am getting quite concerned about her potty habits.
She is still a little shaky in her hind-end, and when she tries to go in her litter box I have seen her fall over (when she bares down). We also adopted a male kitten a year ago and he always "has" to be there when she uses the box (each and every time) which of course Frannie can't stand. So now Frannie just relieves herself anywhere she thinks we can't see her! This is very frustrating and is becomming a big challange.
At night she's an indoor cat, but it seems she waits to go potty when she comes inside...arrgh!
Please, can anyone give me a few words of wisdom?
I have heard you can "express" the urine from a paralized dog or cat. Does that only work when the animal is "completely" paralized? If not, can someone let me know how to do this? I'm basically just concerned about the urine because of the smell and mess. (we rent!)
Thank you for your time and consideration.
