Martisimo hit the nail right on the head! It would seem that the cat somehow got himself into the lowest cat position (usually called pariah) and has decided to take a submissive course. A vet check is in order to determine if it might be caused by a medical problem.

Sad to say, the cat might be better off if you could adopt him out to a loving home where he would be the only cat, or possibly one of only two.
